Short Order
(6333 W. 3rd St. LA, CA 90036)
Frisée Lardon Raft- Grass-fed beef, frisée, artisan slab bacon pieces, fried egg, lemon vinaigrette. With Short Order Spuds.
If you’re seated upstairs, this place is cute. With mason jars as cups and plants in tin pots, I’d describe this place to be… a hip barn. :) I don’t know about the other burgers but this open face burger (recommended by Jojo) was NOMB. Egg+bacon, how can it go wrong? Hey, it’s kind of like a breakfast burger!

Bouchon
(235 N. Canon Dr. Beverly Hills, CA 90210)
Le Burger Bouchon-grilled prime beef burger on brioche bun with heirloom tomatoes, lettuce, butter pickles & french fries.
I didn’t know there was a Bouchon in LA! But, Johanna had informed me that Bar Bouchon was having (I believe it’s still going on until Dec 31) a burger+beer special for $17.50. Woohoo! So, Jo, Robin, Tammy, and I made our way over to Bouchon for dinner on this particular day. We had a choice of cheese for our burgers and I decided to go with the blue cheese. (Not pictured here, because my phone died. This is Tammy’s burger with cheddar.) When our burgers came out, I was shocked at how big they were. Fancy burgers can be tricky, and this one was definitely a conundrum to eat. There is no way one can look cute when eating this burger. Anyway, the burger was good, the bread was good, but the blue cheese ended up being a little too much. I’d go with a milder cheese next time.

*For the special, make sure you get to Bar Bouchon between 5:30 and 6:30.
*Thanks Jojo, for finding this out!
Apple Pan
(10801 W. Pico Blvd. LA, CA 90064)
Hickoryburger- served with mayo, their own sauce, pickles, lettuce. With melted natural Tillamook cheese.
It’s always a treat to go to the west side, it brings back many heartwarming memories. The sauce (which I think is BBQ?) made this burger taste different from other burgers I’ve tried so far. I especially liked the crunch of the lettuce in every bite of my burger. I’ve heard about this place during my UCLA days, but never made it! I’m glad I finally got to check this place off my list.

If you’re a pie person, their pies are also worth mentioning :)
25 Degrees
(Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, 7000 Hollywood Blvd. LA, CA 90028)
Number One- caramelized onion, prelibato gorgonzola, crescenza, bacon, arugula, thousand island
Joann and I indulged ourselves at this trendy little Hollywood burger joint. We ordered two different kinds of burgers (the number one and number two), sweet potato fries, onion rings, and spiked shakes. I feel full from writing it all out again. In terms of the burgers, the number one (pictured here) is the only one worth writing about. We were not fans of the number two. When I bit into the number one, I immediately enjoyed all the flavors (cheeses, patty, arugula combo) and texture of the bread. It made sense why this burger is the most popular one at this joint.

*Thanks Jo! I chuckle at how the manager kept tapping our shoulders.
Umami Burger
(850 S La Brea Ave. LA, CA 90036)
Truffle Burger- house-made truffle cheese, truffle glaze. With sweet potato fries and mexican coke. (*photo credit to S.)
Did you know that Umami is actually a Japanese word, and it means savoriness? You didn’t? Well…. I did. :] And savory it was, this truffle burger. I first tried this burger in 2009, but I didn’t have my awesome burger blog to tell you guys about its nomness back then. My only complaint (from 2009 and today) would be that: I had to resort to using a fork and knife to consume this burger, because its juiciness made the bottom bun too soggy to hold. Fork+knife=no way to eat a burger. However, a nommerific burger.

*Thanks for excusing my extreme tardiness, J and S :}
Father’s Office
(3229 Helms Ave. LA, CA 90034)
Office Burger- caramelized onions, bacon, gruyere, maytag blue, arugula. With sweet potato fries and garlic parsley aioli
Before moving to New York, the Father’s Office burger was a winner in my book of burgers. After 2 years of living the New York life (and consuming some nomtastic NY burgers), I find myself back in LA and continuing my burger adventures in the west coast. I was happy to share this LA treat with my dear east coast friends (H+E) when they visited a couple weeks ago. I was reminded why F.O. holds a special place in my heart :)

Yup, that’s right. I gave it 5noms.
The Mercer Kitchen
(99 Prince St. New York, NY 10012)
(The Mercer) Burger- pepperjack cheese, avocado, crunchy red onions, russian dressing, with french fries.
Backlogged on my NYC posts: After a very late night out the day before, my friends and I made our way to our lunch reservation at this Jean-Georges restaurant. The restaurant was neat, and oddly, all the servers seemed to look alike. Perhaps it was my hunger or hangover… or both. I have to say the burger was pretty tasty and the pepperjack cheese gave it a nice spicy kick. Nice use of the pot for fries.
